Larabar Cashew energy bar review

While some companies push the fact that they are whole food companies Larabar set the bar (no pun intended) in the whole food side of sports nutrition. All the Larabar energy bar have only a few ingredients. The Cashew Larabar only contains TWO ingredients, cashews and dates. With any of the Larabar bars you have to enjoy the taste of dates since they are the main ingredient.

With only two ingredients either you’ll like this bar or not. The dates make the bar sweet tasting. Because of the lack of other binders and fillers the bars are dairy free, gluten free, soy free and vegan. The use of cashews gives this version of the Larabar a decent amount of protein at 6 grams. While these bars might not be your go to solution at the end of a 180km road race they are a great choice for training rides, easy cross country runs etc. They’ll help keep your energy levels up.

Note that in the US this bar is marketed as the Cashew Cookie, which has a nice ring to it but the ingredients are still only two items.
